Oatmeal might be my favorite breakfast food, but it is too hot to even think about starting the day with a steaming bowl of cereal. Luckily, I’ve discovered museli! Your options are limitless, but here is the bowl I made this morning. The recipe is for the image below, but I’ve listed some other options below the recipe to give you an idea of the many ways you can flavor your morning. Enjoy! -Amanda
Morning Museli
1/2 cup oatmeal
3/4 cup almond milk
1 tablespoon chia seeds
pinch cardamom
pinch sea salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon maple syrup
5 fresh figs, quartered
Directions
1. In a bowl, combine oatmeal, almond milk, chia seeds, cardamom, salt , vanilla and maple syrup. Stir well to combine and leave in the refrigerator overnight.
2. In the morning, top with fresh figs.
Options:
Change up the non-dairy milk: soymilk, coconut milk, hemp milk, rice milk, brazil nut milk…
Change up the spices: cinnamon, nutmeg, rosewater, lemon zest, orange zest….
Change up the fresh fruit: strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, cherries, plums, apricots, peaches, bananas…
Add dried fruit: raisins, dried apricots, dried figs, dried cranberries, candied ginger, goji berries…
Add extra nuts and seeds: shredded coconut, walnuts, pistachios, hazelnuts, hemp seeds…
Add cacao powder!
